GETTING READY FOR THE FAIR
A press conference was held on 12 May 2015 in Subotica, in the Media Centre of the City Hall, during which Ljuben Hristov, the mayor’s advisor for crafts and entrepreneurship, Ilinka Vukoja, the manager of the Subotica Markets PUC and Ivan Vojnić Tunić, secretary general of the Subotica Regional Chamber of Commerce, gave an account of the preliminary works of the fair. The international fair will be held between June 4 and 6 in the city’s Hall of Sports.
In his introductory, Ljuben Hristov said, that this year the fair would last a day shorter than in former years, because – as assessed by the organisers – all the programmes could be implemented within three days.
The two main sponsors of the fair are the City of Subotica and the AP of Vojvodina, its organiser is the Subotica Markets PUC, while the Subotica Regional Chamber of Commerce is the co-organiser. This year the key and central topic of the fair is energy efficiency.
Ilinka Vukoja, the manager of the Subotica Markets PUC, said, that the International and Regional Business Fair is a crucial event not only for the City of Subotica and its industry, but also for the whole region. This year again, there is an exhibition area of 1800 m2 and, if needed, there will be an outdoor space, next to the Hall of Sports at the exhibitors disposal. The preparatory works have started timely; the public procurement procedures have already been accomplished for equipping the exhibition area and for building the stands. These works were awarded to the Belgrade-based Mundial Ltd., which has been the fair’s partner so far and which proved to be the tenderer with most favourable offer. Thus, exhibitors can display their products and services in a pleasant, arranged area and in the best light. Economic issues have also been considered, hence, it has been decided to offer various benefits for those who participate in the fair for the first time or has been doing so many times before. First-time exhibitors are granted 30 percent discount from the baseline prices, while those who are our returning exhibitors pay 25 percent less. Specific discounts have been foreseen for the members of chambers of commerce, so the organisers are of the opinion that they have done everything possible to increase the number of exhibitors.
Ivan Vojnić Tunić, secretary general of the Subotica Regional Chamber of Commerce said, that the fair’s partner this year is the Chamber of Commerce of the Bosnian Serb Republic, i.e. businesses from this republic will present their offer in the fair. Beyond that, the organisers count on the participation of a significant number of companies and chambers of commerce from Hungary. There are ongoing negotiations about the participation of Bulgarian and Macedonian businesses, but their presence at the fair is still uncertain. Six Serbian chambers of commerce have confirmed their participation: the ones for the Banat, and for the Srem regions, the Valjevo, Zajecar , the Pozarevac and Leskovac ones and, of course, the regions of North Backa and the Tisa Region will also be present. The organisers estimate, that some 50-80 business will be present, and it proves, that the fair in Subotica is, indeed, international and regional. It has been often heard that the fair in Subotica is the third most important event of the kind after Novi Sad and Belgrade. The organisers do their best to maintain the reputation this fair enjoys.
Ljuben Hristov, the mayor’s advisor for crafts and entrepreneurship, said, among others, that the partner cities of Subotica were also invited to participate in the fair this year. “The Romanian partner city has already confirmed its arrival, and from Croatia a significantly larger group will come than last year. Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, Montenegro will be here, and it seemed almost sure that Macedonia would also be in Subotica, but the recent situation in country made their participation uncertain. We would also like to present school businesses as well, besides the technical, polytechnic and chemical secondary schools, we invited the secondary school for economics and the medical school, which could be interesting for the visitors. The city supports the participation of associations, like the Association of Innovators, because its members have already deserved numerous acknowledgements abroad. Foreign companies with their branches in Subotica have also been invited, likewise those in foreign ownership and I can say, that the ATB Sever Company have confirmed its participation and already paid the fee”, said Hristov.
The concurrent events of the fair are professional lectures, round tables and like, and one of these will be held at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, since the capacity of the Hall of Sports do not enable the organisation of massive professional programmes. Visitors are awaited with entertaining programmes on June 4th and 5th. Entrance is free and there will be a prize competition and a lot of other events, which will make the fair more attractive for visitors.
The deadline for exhibitor applications is May 22. The 9th International and Regional Business Fair in Subotica will be opened on June 4, at 11 am.
We would like to inform you, that the IX International and Regional Fair will be organised between 4-6 of June 2015 in the Sports hall of Subotica.
